Using the Standard Message
Form
The default setting for the Workgroup/Corporate
installation is to use Microsoft Outlook Rich Text as the mail
format and the standard Outlook e-mail editor, shown as below. The
Formatting toolbar is unavailable when you're in the To, Cc, and
Subject lines but available when you're typing your message. This
toolbar, by the way, will be a little different if you're using HTML
mail format, and it will be unavailable if you're typing your
message using Plain Text format.
Tips: The default mail format for the Internet
Only installation is Plain Text using the standard message editor.
You can change to Word as the e-mail editor and select either HTML
or Microsoft Outlook Rich Text as the format

Selecting Microsoft
Word as Your Mail Editor
If you prefer, you can use Microsoft Word to compose a new
message or to read, reply to, or forward a message. By choosing Word
as your mail editor, you can incorporate tables, formulas, and
fields in your message and use Word's entire array of formatting
features when composing a message.
To set up Word as your editor, you must first have Word
installed. Then follow these steps:
- Choose Options from the Outlook Tools menu to open the
Options dialog box.
- Click the Mail Format tab.
